One Thousand Ancient Mothers
|
|
A nourishing and exciting afternoon led by Dartmoor artist and musician Carolyn Hillyer, in which we will celebrate and honour women’s creative and sacred energy with song and drum, simple ceremony, our wise hands and the power of our shared circle. We will journey into the distant landscape of our ancestral mothers, touching into old memories of earth and stone and ancient fires as well as women’s primordial drum mysteries. Within a framework of Carolyn’s new paintings and songs, we will remember how wild and strong and brave we are. Please bring a drum or rattle if you have one; a blanket or shawl; and a piece of nature from a landscape that inspires you. |
Carolyn is a painter of life-size images of archetypal and mythological women; the sacred landscape in human form. Her paintings are exhibited within installations that celebrate the deep
mystery and integrity of the land.
She is a composer and musician and has released nine albums of work. She also writes mythologies and stories that explain and expand on the symbolism in her paintings and songs. Carolyn guides various women’s retreats and journeys. They can include silent days or nights, and musical ceremonies. These group circles explore aspects of our most ancient women’s spirit traditions. Fire & Ice Concert that evening - details. |
