PEACE POLE ERECTED ON INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
Vav Simon
21/9/06 and 23/9/06

Thursday 21st September is the International Day of Peace.

We held an all-day Peace Vigil at Aldermoor Farm, and a specially carved Peace Pole, carved by Guido Oakley, a local wood carver and furniture-maker, was installed.

Depicting two intertwined forms spiralling to a point, it has a crystal at the apex to reflect the sunlight. A spiritual male-and-female design was sand-blasted onto the surface with assistance from Lisa and Bob the Blaster.

Around the bottom, a collar will hold the Peace Pole movement’s inscription “
May Peace Prevail on Earth

The Peace Pole was placed in the centre of a herb mandala, which will produce a variety of colours, shapes and scents when fully grown. The Pole is near to the entrance of the farm, for all visitors to see. Vav hopes that it will be a constant reminder of the need to build peace.

Saturday 23rd September is the Autumn Equinox and we will celebrate the installation of the Peace Pole at 7pm, with BBQ etc. Bring music, stories, songs and join in the celebration!
