Food from the Land - Ancient Foraging and Hunting SkillsDay Workshop: Saturday 13th October, 10 to 4.30pm, tickets £45Vav Simon – Elder & practitioner of “The Old Way” |
|
The ancient people had skills we can learn much from. Walking the land, we will find food to eat and will prepare a meal. We will learn what is available in each season and where to find it, as well as what to avoid. Before our forebears began to farm, the people of this land were hunter/gatherers. The basic skills in survival that these people used will be compared to convenient amenities today. Vav Simon was brought up on a Scottish farm where many of these old ways were still alive. |
With respect for the land, its plants and animals, we will learn codes of conduct and together we will share our firepit meal and reflect on what we have learned. We will compare these basic survival skills to the convenient amenities of today.
No animals will be trapped or killed for this workshop. Step into the fascinating footsteps of our ancestors and enjoy learning how their skills, tools and diet helped them survive and thrive. |
