Aldermoor EarthWorks

Hello!

We have started a series of weekend workshops on countryside and rural activities. We are hosting a wide range of presenters – both national and local – talking about and demonstrating many different subjects.

  • Some workshops will be leisure oriented, like the ‘Bats & Owls’ day we held last year, when we had three presenters talking about and showing us their passion for these threatened species. We all got a chance to hold a bat and several owls – and even fly the owls!

  • Other courses will be more educational, like the ‘Introduction to Permaculture’ weekend we held twice with national expert Patrick Whitefield.

Our idea is to use the land and the buildings we have here to make new workshops as practical as possible. We want to give people a chance to try things out, as well as get answers on their own situations. We feel that people get much more from guided activities than from lectures alone.

So our approach is to ask presenters to include as much of the hands-on element of skills learning as possible to give you useful experiences.

Working outside at times means preparing for the weather — warm clothes, wellies, coats, hats, and suncream!
